HSFA Announces New Quarterly Publication, Awareness: Journal of Public Safety Studies in America

Important public safety information and helpful tips from industry and academic experts on how Americans can address a number of social issues, including disasters, routine crime, terrorism, energy conservation, green living and more.

Atlanta, GA – The Homeland Security Foundation of America (“HSFA”) launched a new public safety e-Journal. The premier issue titled, “United We Stand, Seven Years, One Day… Remembering 9/11,” was published Thursday, September 11, 2008, to commemorate the 7-year anniversary of 9/11.

This new platform allows HSFA to provide important public safety information and helpful tips from industry and academic experts on how Americans can address a number of social issues, including disasters, routine crime, terrorism, energy conservation, green living and more.

“We are pleased to launch our new e-Journal,” said Laura Billon, Editor in Chief, ‘Awareness’ and Member, HSFA Board of Advisors. “This journal will allow us to educate Americans about disaster, safety, crime and terrorism in the U.S. This is a crucial part of HSFA’s mission and one that will utilize experts from all walks of life. This is a great opportunity to connect with the public by not only increasing awareness, but offering life-saving recommendations on a variety of topics that impact us all. This is what public service is all about and we look forward to this great new endeavor.”

HSFA officials say “Awareness” is the first in a series of public safety resources scheduled for release to the public in 2008. Other upcoming releases include disaster preparedness resources and secure authentication and identification technology.

“Our goal for ‘Awareness’ is to provide a free resource that’s useful to all Americans,” said Eric Brown, President and Chairman, HSFA. “No matter your age, location, school or occupation, you’ll find information in this publication you can put to good use.”

Free electronic full issues are now available from HSFA’s website. To access “Awareness” readers should visit https://www.hsfamerica.org/Awareness.
